What it really costs to store your photos
Every company sells storage differently. Some share it with your email, some give each family member their own, and one only counts your videos. Here is every plan side by side, in US list prices, and a calculator for your own library. We don't sell storage and we don't earn anything from these companies, so there are no recommendations here: you decide what the extras are worth.
Work out your own
Enter roughly how many photos and how much video you keep, or the storage you already use. For each company you get the smallest plan that holds it.
That's about 78 GB (60 GB of photos at about 3 MB each, 18 GB of video).

You may already be paying for storage
Storage often comes bundled with something else. Before comparing prices, it's worth knowing what you already have.
Amazon Prime
Includes unlimited full-resolution photo storage in Amazon Photos, plus 5 GB for video.
Apple One
Includes iCloud+ storage: 50 GB with Individual, 200 GB with Family, 2 TB with Premier.
Google's AI plans (Gemini)
Google AI Plus and Google AI Pro are Google One plans, so they come with 2 TB and 5 TB of storage.
Microsoft 365, for Word, Excel and Teams
Microsoft 365 Personal and Family include 1 TB of OneDrive per person. If you pay for it to get the Office apps, that storage is already yours. Office Home 2024, the one-time purchase, includes no OneDrive storage, and a OneDrive from work or school belongs to that organization.
Employer discounts. Microsoft's Workplace Discount Program takes 30% off the yearly Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans for employees of eligible companies: Family is $90.99 a year instead of $129.99, Personal $69.99 instead of $99.99. You check with your work email on Microsoft's program page, and the discount lasts as long as you keep paying yearly.

How much space photos take
- An iPhone photo is about 3 MB, so 10,000 photos take about 30 GB and 1 TB holds about 330,000.
- Video is what fills a plan: about 60 MB a minute at 1080p, 170 MB at 4K 30 fps, and 400 MB at 4K 60 fps. One terabyte holds roughly 98 hours of 4K 30 fps video.
- ProRAW photos are 10 to 12 times larger than normal ones (about 75 MB at 48 megapixels).
What the price tags don't say
- Google One storage is shared by Google Photos, Gmail and Google Drive.
- Microsoft 365 Family and Premium give each person their own 1 TB. It isn't one shared pool.
- Amazon Prime stores unlimited photos, but only 5 GB of video.
- Apple and Amazon bill monthly. Google, Microsoft and Dropbox are about 16% cheaper when paid for a year.
- Introductory promotions are left out; the prices here are what you pay after them.

Frequently asked questions
- How much storage do 10,000 photos need?
- About 30 GB, at roughly 3 MB per iPhone photo. Video fills storage much faster: a minute of 4K video at 30 frames per second is about 170 MB, so one hour is about 10 GB.
- Does Microsoft 365 Family give one person 6 TB?
- No. Microsoft 365 Family covers up to six people, and each person gets their own 1 TB of OneDrive. It is not one shared 6 TB pool, so a single account holds 1 TB.
- Do I already have OneDrive storage if I pay for Word and Excel?
- If you get them through Microsoft 365 Personal or Family, yes: both include 1 TB of OneDrive per person. Office Home 2024, the one-time purchase, includes no OneDrive storage, and a OneDrive from work or school belongs to that organization.
- Is Google One storage only for photos?
- No. Google One storage is shared by Google Photos, Gmail and Google Drive, and on a shared plan by everyone you share it with.
- Is Amazon Photos free with Prime?
- For photos, yes: Prime includes unlimited full-resolution photo storage. Video is limited to 5 GB; more needs a paid Amazon Photos plan.
- Is OneDrive cheaper than Google Photos?
- It depends on how much you store and what you already pay for. About 2 TB costs $99.99 a year with Google AI Plus. Microsoft 365 Personal is also $99.99 a year, holds 1 TB and includes the Office apps. Microsoft 365 Family is $129.99 a year for up to six people with 1 TB each. If you already pay for Microsoft 365, its OneDrive storage costs nothing extra.
- Can I move my Google Photos to OneDrive?
- Google offers a free "Transfer a copy" of your Google Photos to Microsoft OneDrive and a few other services. According to Google's help page, some things are not transferred, such as the video part of Live Photos and the Locked Folder, and it is not available for work or school accounts.
- Are these prices current?
- We read every company's official US pricing page on October 7, 2026. Prices change, so we re-check them every few months. Promotions and employer discounts are not included; for example, Microsoft's Workplace Discount Program takes 30% off Microsoft 365 Personal and Family.
